Description
Contract awarded by NHS England Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership & NHS England and NHS Improvement North West. Delivery of the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Service (AAA) to the eligible male population of Greater Manchester and East Cheshire. The service invites men in these localities to be screened during their 65th year. A Single Tender Action has been enacted for, as a result of extreme urgency following COVID-19 pressures. A future market engagement analysis will determine the appropriate procurement route. If only 1 or no providers are responsive, evidence will be provided to ensure all barriers and issues to the market have been addressed before undertaking any further considerations around evidence and risks towards a potential direct award. Alternatively, a procurement process via the Light Touch Regime will be conducted if deemed appropriate. Future process will be published via Find a Tender and Contracts Finder.

Legal Justification
This contract award is required due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and subsequent impact upon operational delivery and business operations. The current pandemic and events were not expected or foreseen by the contracting authority. Attempts to mitigate risks identified in advance of procurement were undertaken. There was an urgent need to enact this STA as current contracts come to an end on 30 June 2021 and there was a need to ensure services are maintained for the patients’ needs.
