Description

Derby City Council is inviting tenders from suitably qualified organisations to operate and manage Gayton Swimming Pool. The new pool will be a very important local facility in helping us to ensure that more young people have the opportunity to learn to swim and for community groups to enjoy some of their leisure time. In particular, we think that children should learn to swim younger and gain more confidence in water before they attend school swimming lessons at Key Stage 2 and believe that the new pool will enable the delivery of swimming programmes for nurseries and children at Key Stage 1.

Legal Justification

Venue has been closed due to the Covid-19 Outbreak and therefore have been unable to run a full competitive process. Should a process have been undertaken there was a concern that quality responses would not have been received due to the impact of the pandemic on the industry as a whole.

Other Information

An option to extend for a further 5 years may be exercised by the Council subject to the performance of the contractor and the availability of funds.
