Description

GMCA, the Environment Agency and United Utilities jointly wish to procure a two-year programme of field sampling, laboratory analysis and data interpretation and a report to enable them to understand better the sources and dynamics of micro-plastic contamination in the rivers of Greater Manchester. Respondents are asked to design and operate an intensive sampling programme that will help to identify the principal sources of micro-plastic input to a river valley(s) within Greater Manchester and to better understand the transfer through the river system during the hydrological year. The chosen river valley(s) should have catchment characteristics that are broadly representative of conditions across the city region and more widely across the North West England River Basin District. A final report of the findings, conclusions and recommendations shall be prepared for the partner organisations
