Description

North East Lincolnshire Council (the Authority) wish to commission/appoint a suitably experienced contractor to act as Principal Designer, carry out the fabrication and installation of bespoke public art, for St James Square Grimsby. The redevelopment is part of a wider programme of regeneration taking place across key parts of the town centre, including public realm improvements that aim to improve public spaces, help revitalise the centre and encourage private sector investment. Grimsby was one of five projects across England to receive funding and support via Arts Council England's Cultural Development Fund. The key objectives of the redevelopment of the Square in relation to this piece are to: • transform St James Square and churchyard into a distinctive place which enhances the heritage setting of the Minster • promote positive social behaviour within the Square, churchyard and surrounding streets • enhance the stark and austere "Wilkinson's Wall" • create a space in which cultural events can take place
