Description

NHS Frimley CCG is considering their sourcing options for the continued commissioning of their evidence-based psychological interventions service to children and young people (C/YP) with diagnosable anxiety and depressive disorders (including, Panic Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder, Extensive Phobias or Major Depressive Disorder). The service must be available and accessible to C/YP aged 7-17 who live and/or are registered with a GP in East Berkshire. This service occupies the gap between interventions for emerging mental health difficulties (provided by MH Support Teams in school or LA's Children's Wellbeing Practitioners) and high-intensity treatment in specialist NHS CAMHS teams. The service must provide monthly reports to the Mental Health Service Data Set, ensuring the work contributes to the national access standards and reporting of routine outcome measures. The Service will include: 1. Triaging referrals via the C/YP and Families Health Hub provided by BHFT CAMHS including triage assessments to identify suitability for brief psychological interventions: • Main difficulty of anxiety or depression and meet criteria for diagnosis of anxiety or depressive disorder • Likely to benefit from and be able to access Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)-informed treatment • Not in need of crisis support • Not diagnosed with a learning disability or autism spectrum disorder 2. A structured diagnostic clinical interview to determine presence/absence and severity of anxiety and depressive disorders and identify suitable treatment options. 3. Brief (6-8 sessions) psychological treatment for anxiety disorders and depression. Interventions will include: • CBT for parents/carers of younger children with anxiety disorders • Individual CBT for adolescents with anxiety disorders or depression • Support for parents/carers and families • Plus 1-month post-treatment follow-up (if required) 4. Appropriate liaison with other health and social care professionals including NHS CAMHS teams, mental health support teams, community counselling organisations; local authority early help, social care and education psychology teams; schools. 5. Support clinical research that will further increase access to evidence-based treatments and improve outcomes for C/YP with anxiety disorders and depression. The contract is estimated at £120,000 per annum, and the CCG is considering a term of 2 years with the possibility of a further extension option. The service would commence in April 2022. Note: Any values and timescales stated are for guidance purposes only and should not be taken as a guarantee.
