Description
Stirling Council was successful in the final round of the Sustrans Community Links PLUS (now Places for Everyone) competition to help develop and deliver an exemplar placemaking and active travel project. In September 2017 the bid, entitled Walk, Cycle, Live Stirling was successfully awarded design and construction phase funding to take the programme forward. The bid was built on the proposals contained within the City Region Deal Masterplan and the Local Transport Strategy, and has been developed in consultation with local communities. Design for the project is nearing completion, and the Council are now moving to the construction phase. This construction phase will result in the development of two cycle routes that will be developed as part Community Links PLUS project: 1. Forth Valley College Route 2. The University Route The project falls in line with Stirling Councils strategic vision to establish a world class active travel culture, supported through the development of a world class active travel network. The routes will provide strong active travel links to existing Park & Ride/ Park & Choose sites and will also connect to the rail and bus transport hubs within the city. The routes to the north and east converge directly on the stations with the routes to the west and south connecting via the pedestrianized city centre.
