Description
Delivery of the contracting authority's Food and Fun holiday programme, which is funded by the Department for Education to help local families who are in need of additional support to get free, healthy food and fun activities - aimed at children and young people aged between 5 and 16 years. The contracting authority invites prospective bidders to attend a market engagement event in relation to its procurement proposal on Tuesday 19th October 2021 between 10.30am and 11.30am via Microsoft Teams. Further details are available within the attached questionnaire, which prospective bidders are asked to complete and return in order to inform the contracting authority's service requirements.
Total Quantity or Scope
The two core aims of the meals service are to: - Ensure holiday providers have the option to access nutritious, tasty and culturally appropriate pre-prepared meals that meet School Food Standards, and that their access to the service is simple and streamlined - Ensure that the children and young people attending participating holiday providers are provided with nutritious, tasty and culturally appropriate pre-prepared meals that meet School Food Standards and cater to the tastes and preferences of children and young people. The following objectives will contribute to the above core aims: - To develop a varied menu for the programme which meets School Food Standards and is appropriate to meet service users’ needs and tastes - To liaise directly with holiday providers to confirm number of meals required, meal selections, delivery days and times - To manage the expectations of holiday providers in relation to the ordering and delivery process - To manage the physical delivery of meals to holiday providers who opt in to the service, across a number of sites spread across the borough and at varying quantities each day - To collect information on and cater to any dietary requirements, requirements based on religious practices and allergies - To adhere to the quality criteria to minimise the environmental impact of the service and to embed sustainability - To engage with holiday providers, children and families to gain feedback on the service, and where appropriate, act upon learning between Easter, summer and Christmas programmes.
