Total Quantity or Scope
Guildford STW relocation is a complex major project that is to the benefit of both Thames Water Utilities Ltd (TW) and Guildford Borough Council (GBC). It constitutes an opportunity for TW to support GBC, playing a key part in GBC’s Weyside Urban Village housing development, positively impacting on the local plan to meet growth and housing demands, and improving the local environment. TW’s existing STW (ESTW) occupies a site that GBC wish to redevelop to provide additional local housing to achieve part of its planning objectives. The project requires the design and construction of a new STW (NSTW) located on a site to the north of the neighbouring Slyfield Industrial Estate. The NSTW will be connected to the local sewer network through a gravity fed tunnel to the works. Once the NSTW is complete, the ESTW will be decommissioned allowing the ESTW land to transfer to GBC. The works additionally comprise minor enabling works to facilitate the land transfer.
