Description

S106 funding has provided the opportunity to plant new trees, and replace some dead & dying trees, along the A34 Stratford Road and Elmdon Park. Along the highway corridor, several trees have suffered on account of restricted growing conditions which this tender aims to address by providing appropriate soil volumes. There may be one or two other locations for a few trees. The project will deliver aspects of the Natural Capital and Adaptation Roadmap within the Solihull Climate Change Prospectus and contributes to the Council commitment to plant 25,000 trees a year to 2030. The contract comprises tree and shrub planting works, with some hard landscape treatment in the construction of some of the tree pits. Since 2017 Solihull Council has been successful with European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) applications to undertake a wide range of habitat and nature improvement projects. This funding has delivered improved conservation status for habitat across publicly accessible green space within the urban areas of Solihull Borough.
