Description
Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (BSWCCG) is going to award a contract to GP Care UK Limited to deliver Urology Services. The provider will continue to provide a community-based consultant-led urology service for the population of Swindon. The aim of this service is to see, diagnose and as appropriate, treat urology patients who do not need to attend the local acute trust, in a timely manner. The provider has a good track record of providing these services within this locality and the continuation of this service will ensure a continuation of a high quality of service delivery, patient experience and referring-GP satisfaction. GP Care UK Limited have provided these services over the past 3 years and the commissioner believes that that this provider is best placed to continue to build upon work already achieved with the locality. Key to the success of the service is that the consultant input includes at least one consultant who is also employed by the local acute trust, and to whom cases are onward referred or listed for surgery as appropriate. This common link is an essential component of the service. The contract has an annualised value of £310,000 and will be award a contract term of 5 years with the possible extension of any period up to a further 2 years at the discretion of the Commissioner. The Services are healthcare services within the meaning and scope of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The Commissioner has voluntarily advertised this notice of intention to award this contract to reach as wide an audience as possible and to promote transparency and in line with regulation 32(2)(b)(ii). The Commissioner is firmly of the view that competition is absent for technical reasons, that the organisation listed above are the only provider capable of meeting the CCG's needs within specific localities for the reasons detailed above.
