Legal Justification
Hywel Dda University Health Board wish to urgently commence work for the Installation of Additional Treatment Spaces GGH AVH, to assist with the health boards treatment targets. The health board wishes to appoint TR Jones (Betws) Ltd to undertake this work. The impact of not proceeding is that we will not improve the patient flow issues in the Emergency Department (ED) in Glangwili. Patients will experience delays in accessing the appropriate treatments in a timely manner. The impact of patient flow in ED will also have a knock-on impact on ambulance waiting times. Will not deliver a reduction in the referral to treatment time for patients waiting for ophthalmology treatments in Amman Valley Hospital. COVID-19 has significantly increased the number of patients waiting for treatment. This project delivers an additional 3 rooms for treating patients A 3rd wave in the pandemic has been predicted and the need have a safe environment in which to manage these patients in a cohorted location. Avoiding having patients treated in multiple locations and increasing the risk of nosocomial transmission. Initially NWSSP procurement services conducted a tender exercise and the contractor has recently been awarded a contract for a similar contract at the Bronglais Hospital site following a competitive tender exercise and can complete the work by the required timescale.
