Description
Devon ICS serves a population of 1.2m and covers a significantly larger geography than most systems, with a culturally diverse population and including recognised areas of increased social deprivation. There is also a significantly high proportion of an older population demographic than most systems and therefore this can become a challenge in terms of providing the highest possible standards of health and social care. It is essential that we do our best to support staff to achieve and maintain good levels of health and wellbeing, to enable them to contribute to their best for the benefit ultimately of our patients and service users, to have a positive experience of work and remain well and for longer in work. Devon ICS includes 4 Acute NHS Trusts, 2 MH Providers, 1 Ambulance service, 1 CCG, 3 Local Authorities, 5 LCPs, 31 PCNs, and a range of other health and social care colleagues. In total Devon employs over 61,200 staff working in health and social care including; 24,825 social care workers, 12,065 nurses and midwives, 3,555 allied health professionals, 17,519 support staff, 546 paramedics, 1,201 GPs, 902 pharmacists and 3,817 doctors (as at Dec 2020). As a response to the pandemic, we have ambitious plans to develop a robust set of practical measures designed to provide both an immediate response that will support staff to recover well, and longer term sustainable improvements to build positive HWB and increased resilience for an increasingly uncertain future. Evidence has shown that the faster the response to providing support to meet HWB needs, especially at times of urgent need or following a period of crisis, the greater the impact for the individual. Devon ICS already has an established MH Wellbeing Hub offering psychological support to health and care employees and the Police service across Devon; including e.g. assessment, signposting, care planning, counselling and rapid access to IAPT services through TalkWorks, and a team offering for psychological support to aide recovery of teams adversely affected by the pandemic. Supporting both the NHS and social care attract and retain staff in Devon counteracting demographics of an increasingly diverse and ageing workforce and population. Devon ICS is looking to award for two different lots: Lot 1: System Wellbeing Support Buddies and Champions and Lot 2: Suite of Potential Wellbeing Support Offers to Engage with Health Staff (clinicians, managers, local authorities, community workers, primary care, adult social care and support workers across Devon system). Bidders are welcome to bid for one of the lots or both. This procurement is being carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
