Description
The contract is for statutory inspection requirements for passenger lifts, stair lifts, through lifts, hoists, other lifting equipment and boiler plant.
Total Quantity or Scope
The inspections are mainly concentrated in two Directorates: the Directorate of Housing & Safer Communities and the Directorate of Regeneration Enterprise and Skills. The period of the contract is for 12 months.

Legal Justification
It is a statutory requirement for the Council to arrange annual inspections of all lifting equipment and pressure vessels for which it is responsible. The existing contract expired on 31st March 2021, due to the impact of the pandemic the council were not able to re-tender the service but continued to order the new services from the current provider to meet its statutory duty. A new procurement exercise is currently under way to award a contract for the provision of these services beyond April 2022.
