Description
The British EDF Estuarine & Marine Studies (BEEMS) project, requires Cefas to provide authoritative scientific information on the marine and transitional waters in the vicinity of potential new build nuclear power stations. This information will be used to provide evidence-based scientific positions on the key local marine environmental issues relating to the operation of new build nuclear power stations. The BEEMS project is being delivered by Cefas by means of eleven Work Packages (WP), the majority of which incorporate sub-contracts for specialist scientific services. Cefas manages regular monitoring tasks for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear New Build. This item is for work associated with Remote Piloted Aircraft (RPA) flights to monitor potential coastal erosion and algal coverage: (1) along the Hinkley Point foreshore, and; (2) at Combwich Wharf and the surrounding banks of the River Parrett. These data are subsequently used to create high-resolution aerial photographs and digital surface models. With the exceptions noted below the required image resolution is ~3cm/pixel or better.
