Description

Design and build of river improvement schemes needed to mitigate the impact of river abstraction on river habitats The main elements of the works programme: 1. Design - Detailed design of river restoration measures for the respective sites identified. Submission of designs to the EA for approval. 2. Enabling - Obtain landowner permissions and permits for the implementation of the work. 3. Consultation - Consultation with local NGO's and/or local trusts which will be identified as having a key interest in the design and implementation of the river restoration scheme. 4. Supply - Supply of plant and materials used for the implementation of the river restoration scheme e.g. woody debris, gravel, etc. 5. Installation - Implementation of the river restoration work to the agreed design. 6. Maintenance - Monitoring and maintenance of the completed works to a timescale and requirement as agreed with key stakeholders (e.g. Environment Agency).

** PREVIEW NOTICE, please check Find a Tender for full details. ** The programme of habitat improvement work is agreed with the EA and identifies several rivers where AWS public water supply abstraction is contributing to the rivers failing the Water Framework Directive (WFD) flow targets. River restoration will be used to mitigate this impact, these schemes form part of AWs WINEP (Water Industry National Environment Programme) obligations for AMP 7. There are 16 sites which have an obligated delivery date of 22/12/2024: Lot 1 - Tuddenham, Cavenham, Linnet, Kennett-Lee Brook, Lee Brook (Jackson) Lot 2 - Sapiston, Stowlangtoft, Gadder, Old Carr, Stringside (Binnies) Lot 3 - Gaywood, Heacham (Five Rivers) Lot 4 - Gwash, Glens (East & West), Broughton Brook (Five Rivers) The framework has been awarded to 4 primary suppliers, as per the brackets above, with all primary suppliers acting as a secondary back-up with Stonbury as an additional for delivery only (not design).
