Description
The Climate and Ocean Adaptation and Sustainable Transition (COAST) programme forms part of the UK's £500m Blue Planet Fund (BPF), a joint FCDO-Defra fund aiming to protect and enhance the marine environment and reduce poverty. BPF will focus on Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Pacific SIDS, West Africa, East Africa and South and Southeast Asia. COAST aims to improve vulnerable coastal communities' resilience to climate change and build their prosperity from a more sustainable use of their marine environment. It focuses on protecting and restoring coastal habitats, small scale fisheries management and sustainable aquaculture. COAST's budget and delivery timeframe will be confirmed during FCDO's internal programme approval process - if conditions are favourable COAST's budget is envisioned to be up to £154m over a minimum of 5 years. This is the second EME – an FCDO-Defra EME was held for the BPF in April 2021.
Total Quantity or Scope
This EME is to introduce the COAST programme to the market. Its objectives are to a) provide information on the programme to the market and test their view on its proposed delivery, b) provide indicative timescales of the programme's delivery so the market is primed to respond. This is not a call for competition or tender at this time.
