Description

Luton Council require groundworks contractors to supplement their own labour resource. The type of groundworks that Luton Council undertakes is day to day repairs, void property external works, communal external works to sheltered schemes, and foundations and external works to new build developments.

Lot Division

1 Groundworks - Schedule of Rates Work

(Works with an assessed value of up to £50,000 in value) Repairs works may be required to currently occupied properties and sheltered accommodation blocks. This work may involve jobs such as replacing/relaying paving, clearing and levelling the ground including any retaining walls as necessary, block paving or concrete paths, trenching to expose and repair or alter drainage or services, foundations and bases to small structures and the provision of access ramps.

2 Demolition and Site Clearance

Works may include the demolition of ad-hoc residential properties, sports field pavilions, garage blocks and other small similar sized small structures. This lot will also include the levelling and grading of sites which may be required following any clearance, and may involve earthworks, reduction of levels, grading, and bulk removal of spoil, filling and top soiling to leave a clean site.

3 Projects

(Works with an assessed value in excess of £50,000 in value) Various teams in BTS carry out new builds and project works involving groundworks, which may include earthworks (site preparation) and external works (hard and soft landscaping). These can be varied and involve working in public buildings, schools, social services properties, communal areas to sheltered accommodation blocks and flats, as well as newly built houses and flats.
