Description
The Environmental Agency requires United Utilities to consistently undertake analysis of Wastewater samples from various sample points across the region which is located in the North West of England. Network Owners, Trade Effluent Officers, Wastewater Operatives and project staff collect the samples which require analysis. United Utilities need to purchase consumables in order to undertake chemical oxygen demand (COD) test analysis of Waste water. COD is a water quality measure used not only to determine the amount of biologically active substances such as bacteria but also biologically inactive organic matter in waste water treatment, the COD is an important measurement for the amount of oxygen that is required to break down pollutants (organic substances) in water. This analysis is to be used for regulatory compliance providing results for United Utilities Waste Water Treatment Works which are to be sent to the Environment Agency to measure ongoing compliance.
Total Quantity or Scope
United Utilities Laboratory Services have a commitment to provide a high quality analytical service with rapid turnaround and reporting of results. The consumables below enable the COD Test sampling to take place. United utilities are looking to determine which suppliers can provide the following to us. • COD cuvette test 150-1000 mg/L O₂, • COD cuvette test - ISO 15705, 0-1000 mg/L O₂ • COD cuvette test - ISO 15705, 0-150 mg/L O₂ In addition to the above, the below products are desirable: • Organic Acids cuvette test 50-2500 mg/L, • Anionic Surfactants, cuvette test 0.05-2.0 mg/L, This is not an exhausted list. The above products have to be approved by the Environmental Agency for Waste Water. The key aims of the Supply contract are as follows:- • is to ensure products are delivered on time to the required level of quality, • With sufficient flexibility of supply to meet both day to day operational requirements and hikes in demand in the event that the requirement for analysis increases above the normal levels. • The supplier will require sufficient flexibility to manage potential changes of products to meet Company requirements throughout the term of the Agreement The key requirements are:- • Ensure a secure consistent supply of products to the required level of quality, which will cater for demand • Accommodate both monthly large quantity deliveries and potential urgent requirements • work towards stock holding on behalf of the company at the suppliers premises/ suitable stockholding facility • Accommodate pre delivery batch testing by the Company Please note as stated above • United Utilities are a UKAS accredited laboratory, all products used the process for analysis must be compliant with the standards specified. • In the event that any products are changed, established methodologies relating to change including testing must be adhered to.
