Description

The School of Physics & Astronomy has received funding from EPSRC as part of the UK membership of the European Magnetic Field Laboratory (EMFL). This is a mid-range facility funded by the EPSRC and coordinated by Prof Amalia Patane in the School of Physics & Astronomy. Within the EMFL, the HFML (operated by the Radboud University Nijmegen and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO)) and the LNCI-Grenoble (operated by CNRS) are committed to generate the highest continuous magnetic fields, currently up to 37.5 T. The HLD-Dresden (operated by the Helmholtz- Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf) and the LNCMI-Toulouse focus on non-destructive pulsed magnetic fields with strengths up to the feasibility limited of 100 T and semi-destructive fields up to 200 T. We are distributing this funding to the individual facilities of the EMFL, of which Radboud University is one. We have a contract with EPSRC to this effect. As such, we are not buying anything but are simply re-distributing these EPSRC funds to the EMFL.
