Description

South Lanarkshire Council has a responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 19989, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998 and the Manual Handling Operations Regulation 1992 as amended in 2002, applying to a wide range of activities that involve operation of mobile plant, lifting and access equipment and hand-held plant. The training courses to be delivered must be suitable for all levels of employees providing they had attended any pre-requisite training appropriate to the learning activity. The training will be delivered within a venue agreed at time of call off/order placement. All Plant and Equipment that is to be used during the course of the training must be provided by the supplier be technologically relevant, up to date and in good working order. Information will be requested on whether the plant is owned / hired, its age, profile and maintenance regime.

Lot Division

1 Access Training

This course will provide employees with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to safely assemble, dismantle, relocate and alter a mobile access tower without risk of personal injury to themselves or others in line with health and safety requirements. Additional information: Areas of training to be covered in this Lot will include:- Alloy Tower (PASMA Accredited) MEWP Static Vertical - Category 1a (IPAF Accredited) MEWP Tracked Arial Platform - Category 1b (IPAF Accredited) MEWP Static Boom - Category 1b (IPAF Accredited) MEWP Mobile Vertical - Category 3a (IPAF Accredited) MEWP Mobile Boom - Category 3b (IPAF Accredited)

2 Mobile Plant Training

This course will give participants the skills and knowledge required to operate a 180° excavator below 10 tonnes correctly and be aware of the health and safety requirements to the NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) standard. Additional information: Areas of training to be covered in this Lot will include:- 180deg Excavator below 10 tonnes 360deg Excavator below 10 tonnes mini Excavator Telescopic Handler (Forks and Buckets) Lorry Mounted Hydraulic Loader (HIAB) Forward Tipping Dumper Loading Shovel Counterbalance Forklift Asphalt Chipper Quick Hitch Awareness Slinger Signaller

3 Arboriculture

This course will provide employees with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to maintain and operate chainsaws for cross cutting only in line with health and safety requirements. The course will contain an assessment, leading to a nationally recognised NPTC qualification for this activity. Training required in City and Guilds Levels 2 and 3. Areas of training to be cover in this Lot will include:- Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting Felling and processing trees up to 380mm Felling and processing trees over 380mm Additional information: Aerial Tree Pruning Severing Uprooted or windblown trees using a chainsaw Assisted Fell Operations Aerial Cutting of trees with a chainsaw Aerial tree rigging Safe use of stump grinder Safe use of manually fed woodchipper Tree climbing and rescue Aerial tree rescue operations

4 Miscellaneous Training (individual lines will be awarded to suppliers)

These courses will provide employees with practical skills and knowledge necessary to safely operate the following:- Additional information: Core Cutting Cartridge nail gun (Spit P200 and P370) Power Cutter All Terrain Vehicles Safety Harness and Safe Working at Heights for MEWPS Cable Avoidance (CAT & Genny) Gully Vehicle CAT G Licence (Road Roller)
