Description
PLEASE NOTE, ALL INFORMATION IN TERMS OF DATES, TIMES, VALUES IN THIS NOTICE ARE INDICITIVE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Task Summary Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) require an understanding on the fate and distribution behaviour of synthetic cannabinoids within a laundry cycle programme. The primary aim of this work will be to devise and conduct a lab scale trial, simulating a laundry wash cycle using clothing materials that have been impregnated with selected synthetic cannabinoids. Design of the lab scale simulated laundry wash cycle, the quantifiable impregnation of synthetic cannabinoids onto clothing material and the efficient recovery of synthetic cannabinoids and associated breakdown / reaction products will be a prerequisite to investigating the fate and distribution of synthetic cannabinoids. The lab scale trial will require a validated liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry method in order to quantify residual in-tact synthetic cannabinoids and perform a discovery screen for associated breakdown / reaction products within the waste water (wash and rinse cycle volumes), washed and spun clothing material and investigate the cross contamination of clothing material within a mixed load wash cycle. The levels of synthetic cannabinoids and breakdown products will need to be measured quantitatively. The devised laboratory based laundry simulation should be challenged to a representative loading level of synthetic cannabinoids (1 mg / cm2). Impregnation on both natural and synthetic materials plus garment types will be guided by operational information Please note the route to market for this requirement is currently planned for R-Cloud (yet still indicative), we encourage interested suppliers to sign up to the framework via the Dstl R-cloud website homepage.
