Description

This requirement is for a regenerative DC load capable of sinking 9500A at 50V, returning the power to the grid with a high degree of efficiency. The primary requirement of the system is to act as a constant resistance test load during acceptance testing and commissioning of a replacement highly stabilised DC current controlled power supply for the ISIS synchrotron, where testing with the real load is not practical.

Total Quantity or Scope

The load must be able to present a pre-programmed constant resistance to the power supply output over a range of 4mΩ to 5.25mΩ. Following this testing the regenerative load will be re-purposed as test loads for future DC PSU testing and development and as such must be modular in construction to give increased flexibility in load specification.
