Description

Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is undertaking a strategic review of commissioned health profession education and training across NHS Wales. HEIW commissions both pre-registration and post-registration qualifications for the NHS Wales workforce. HEIW has identified a requirement to commission critical care education. This education will support national upskilling of existing health professionals to meet the recommendation of the Welsh Government’s Task and Finish Group on Critical Care (2019) that critical care education and opportunities are explored to improve retention of current staff. In addition, this education will meet the Guidelines for the Provision of Intensive Care Services (GPICS), Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) and the Intensive Care Society (ICS)

This Procurement governs the provision of a Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care. The Programme must be worth 60 credits at level 7 and Level 6 and to meet the requisite standard, the Programme must meet CC3N Step 2 and 3 Competencies for Adult Critical Care Nurses. The range of commissioning numbers is detailed within the ITT.

2 Post graduate certificate in Critical Care (South West Wales)
  • Value: £391K

This Procurement governs the provision of a Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care. The Programme must be worth 60 credits at level 7 and level 6 and to meet the requisite standard, the Programme must meet CC3N Step 2 and 3 Competencies for Adult Critical Care Nurses. The range of commissioning numbers is detailed within the ITT.

3 Post graduate certificate in Critical Care (South Central/East Wales)
  • Value: £891K

This Procurement governs the provision of a Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care. The Programme must be worth 60 credits at level 7 and level 6 and to meet the requisite standard, the Programme must meet CC3N Step 2 and 3 Competencies for Adult Critical Care Nurses. The range of commissioning numbers is detailed within the ITT.

Renewal Options

This contract will be subject to renewal at the discretion of the Contracting Authority. The Contracting Authority may exercise its option to extend for a further two years in two twelve month intervals.

HEIW reserves the right to pause, halt, abandon and/or annul the tendering process and not to award any or all the Contracts. The Contracts to which this procurement relates are funded via Welsh Government funding, refer to the contract terms and conditions and the ITT for rights reserved to the contracting authority should the said funding cease or reduce. Bidders are to note: (a) The number of student places to be commissioned annually will be conditional upon Welsh Government confirmation of funding; and (b) HEIW reserves the right to vary the range of student commissioning numbers by way of an increase or decrease; and (c) The proposed contracts are due to take effect on or around 01/03/2023 and provide for an implementation period. Delivery of the services are to commence upon the anticipated Services Commencement Date (that is on or around 01/08/2023). No contract payments are payable in respect of the implementation period.
