Description

The Defence Equipment & Support Land Equipment Vehicle Support Team, part of the UK Ministry of Defence, intends to award a Contract to Boughton Engineering Limited, for a period of three years with a further 1-year option, for the provision of technical advisory support to the Armoured Vehicle, Royal Engineer (AVRE) Trailer. It is considered that the award of the contract without prior publication of a contract notice is justified due to technical reasons. Boughton Engineering Limited is the Design Authority for and the Original Equipment Manufacturer of the AVRE Trailer and has maintained and supported the AVRE Trailer since it came into service in 1996. As such, only Boughton Engineering Limited has access to the technical information, expertise and know-how necessary to provide technical advice and services and input to the Safety Environmental Management Panels in order to assure the safety of the equipment. If a third party was to carry out this work, it would add an unacceptable level of risk to the management of the equipment. Boughton Engineering Limited therefore have the technical capability to provide the necessary level of support to assure the safe use of the equipment until the out of service date of 2025.
