Description

Historic England wishes to develop and improve the storage of its permanent and temporary collections, taking into consideration the variety of types of collection we hold, the historic nature of the buildings and sustainability. Due to aging infrastructure, changing business needs and collection development, the current environmental systems and stores are unable to achieve consistent appropriate temperature and humidity conditions for the different materials held. Historic England wish to engage a museum collections care and storage consultant to: 1. Undertake a root and branch review of how the Fort Cumberland archives and collections are currently stored, their requirements and how the building performances and current environmental controls affect the stored materials. 2. Put together sustainable options for adapting and building new innovative collection curation facilities, within Grade II and II* Listed Buildings, which are fit for purpose and will meet our current needs and future ambitions to improve accessibility for professional and public engagement.
