St. Stephens church in Ipswich is an excellent location for holding small live music events. The building is located within a central retail and recreation area i.e. Arras Square - which is about to benefit from public realm investment. It is the smallest of Ipswich's redundant churches and lends itself to the intimacy essential for small music venues. It also creates challenges for the designers of facilities that will must be operated in a physically constrained environment. The listed status and value of the building as a heritage asset will require design which is sensitive to the historic setting. St Stephens is one of Ipswich's principal historic buildings.
