Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) have a requirement to undertake Ground Preparation and Mechanised Establishment Operations (“the Service”) on various sites following the completion of harvesting operations and on woodland creation sites where ground needs to be prepared for forest establishment. The Service will prepare the sites so that they are in optimal condition for replanting.

I would like to provide some information on an upcoming tender process for Mechanised Ground Preparation. FLS intend to run an open tender process for these services, which will cover a majority of the same types of requirements as were tendered for in C0203, published by FLS last year. Please note that the new tender will not include the South of Scotland (Dumfries & Borders, and Galloway), which was successfully tendered under C0203. FLS have recognised and acknowledged several issues that occurred with last year’s tender process. We have taken on board feedback from the market and have proceeded to make appropriate changes to several areas of the process, including the lotting structure and evaluation criteria in order to improve the tender process, as well as the overall experience of submitting a bid. We are planning to work to the following timeline, so please check your inbox and PCS account regularly to ensure that you don’t miss out on any opportunities. The project will be titled “Mechanised Ground Operations,” and the reference is FLS-0036-C. (Please note that FLS are unable to issue individual notification that the tender is live. This will be advertised only on the PCS portal).
