Description

The council has a statutory duty to provide advocacy provision to the residents of South Gloucestershire. Section 67 of the Care Act 2014 ("the Act") imposes a duty on local authorities to arrange for an independent advocate to be available to represent and support certain people for the purpose of facilitating those peoples' involvement in the services provided by local authorities. The advocacy service provides: • Deprivation of liberty safeguards advocacy which will become (Liberty Protection Safeguards advocacy) • Paid representative advocacy • Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy • Advocacy provided under the Care Act 2014 • Independent Mental Health Advocacy • Advocacy for NHS complaints • Generic advocacy The contract term is an initial 3 years with 2 optional extension periods of 12 months, taking the total contract term of 5 years.
