Under the Care Act 2014 local authorities have a duty to assess a carers' own needs for support regardless of whether the cared for has eligible needs. The service will ensure that children and young people are protected from inappropriate caring and have the support they need to learn, develop and thrive, to enjoy positive childhoods and to achieve to their potential.
