Description

UK Ministers have committed to reviewing evidence relating to environmental noise exposure and associated costs, in light of the publication of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Environmental Noise Guidelines in 2018. The Defra-led Interdepartmental Group on Costs and Benefits (IGCB) is a group of government analysts that provides analysis and advice relating to the quantification and valuation of local environmental impacts. The Noise subject group IGCB(N) has been asked to prepare written guidance on the evidence base to determine whether updates to their previous recommendations are advisable. The outputs from this study will inform the guidance. This Research and Development Contract will identify and review the latest evidence and provide meta-analyses, where deemed appropriate to inform the review. Specifically, this project focuses on cardiovascular and metabolic impacts from transport noise sources.
