Description
The Council operates four Waste Transfer Stations (WTS) at Bardon, Kibworth, Loughborough and Whetstone, and fourteen Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) with drainage infrastructure ranging from large attenuation tanks, foul water cesspits, septic tanks silt and oil interceptors of varying makes and capacities, to various catchpits sumps and gullies. The Services required include: • Emptying and disposal of effluent from cesspits and cesspool tanks. • Removal and disposal of oil, solids and contaminated water from interceptors and sumps. • Removal and disposal of silt from catch pits and channels. • Removal and disposal of silt from, and cleansing of, yard and road gullies. • Servicing interceptor tank oil coalescers. • Unblocking and jetting drains.
Lot Division
1 | Emptying Cesspools and Attenuation Tanks • Emptying non-hazardous liquid effluent from Cesspool Tanks between 7,300 and 18,000 litres when notified. • Emptying up to 22,000 litres of potentially hazardous liquid effluent from a Cesspool Tank when notified. • Emptying non-hazardous foul effluent (sewage) from cesspits up to 18,000 litres when notified. • Ad hoc removal of liquid effluent from Attenuation Tanks between 22,000 and 1.2 million litres. NB This is considered to be a very rare requirement and the full volume may not need to be removed. Depending on the ‘trigger’ event, this may be either hazardous or non-hazardous effluent. |
2 | Servicing Interceptors, Servicing & Maintenance of Alarms and Drain Clearing • Removal and disposal of solids (sewage) and some liquid effluent from septic tanks. • Removal and disposal of solids, oils and contaminated water from interceptors with silt capacities up to 5,000 litres and oil capacities up to 500 litres. • Removal and disposal of mainly liquid effluent from Catchpits (at Kibworth RHWS/WTS.) This effluent will be specified as hazardous or non-hazardous at the time the Service is requested. • Routine Service and maintenance of Interceptors, including cleaning and replacement of any coalescers (excluding parts).and disposal of contaminated coalescer medium, • Ad hoc jetting of on-site drains to remove full or partial blockages down stream of interceptor and septic tanks and up stream of cesspits. |
3 | Cleansing Gullies, Catchpits and Sumps • Removal of silt from two wash stand catchpits gullies (Bardon WTS only) when notified. • Scheduled (six monthly) emptying and cleansing of road and yard gullies. • Additional ad hoc cleansing of individual blocked gullies, including up to five gullies. • Ad hoc removal of contents (solids and liquids) from sumps. |
