Description

The Holborn Liveable Neighbourhood (HLN) scheme is a major transformational project in the heart of the city. Its delivery would provide wide-ranging benefits to the Holborn area through the prioritisation of sustainable transport modes. This will help to support the growing number of residents, visitors, and businesses, as well as the local economy. This project was for traffic modelling, to further Camden's understanding of the feasibility of the full Liveable Neighbourhood Project

Total Quantity or Scope

Camden Council has secured funding from TfL to take forward the feasibility stage of development work on the Holborn Liveable Neighbourhood scheme. To achieve this the council requires professional resource to provide feasibility design, traffic modelling, and supporting services. This includes the production of LINSIG, VISSIM, and ONE models of the project area. The work will also include a range of supporting services required to carry out feasibility design and modelling. This includes: • Commissioning and arranging the required surveys to feed into the design and models. • An assessment of the traffic movements being proposed as part of the Holborn Liveable Neighbourhood project with regards to the impact on the traffic system, i.e., the potential of adverse effects such as oversaturation on neighbouring streets. • Commissioning waiting and loading surveys, including kerbside activities. The consultant will then provide an assessment of the existing restrictions to understand how well the system currently works and how it can be improved (out of peak-hours loading, etc). • Commissioning a pedestrian flow survey to understand pedestrian movements and volumes at key locations as well as each of the junctions or formal/informal pedestrian crossings. • A review of the existing bus routes and potential positive and negative impacts of the HLN proposals on the routes servicing the area.
