Description

NHS NW London ICB requires the provision of Stroke Recovery Services in the borough of Harrow from 1st September 2023 for up to 24 months. The current service is being delivered by Stroke Association. The ICB is currently of the view that Stroke Association is the only capable provider to successfully deliver this service within the budget restrictions of £35,000.00 per annum due to the fact that they focus exclusively on stroke and provide a wide range of stroke support services to meet the needs of stroke survivors and carers. Stroke Association funds research into stroke prevention, treatment and after-care in the UK and findings from the research are crucial in the search for new ways to prevent a stroke happening, find new or improve existing treatments for those people who have a stroke, and understand how the brain works and changes after a stroke. The Stroke Recovery Service supports stroke patients in the period of their lives following their acute rehabilitation. The service offers a needs-led, holistic model for supporting stroke recovery. It identifies the practical, emotional and physical needs of stroke survivors, their families and carers by coordinating the appropriate recovery support as they move from hospital to home and into the longer term. This enables stroke survivors to achieve their recovery goals and live their best possible life after a stroke. The service bridges the gap between acute care and reintegration into the community, helping service users navigate available services, receive support to access these services, and regain independence. The Stroke Recovery Service provides stroke survivors, their families and carers with high-quality information, emotional support and practical assistance post-stroke and Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA). If it is the case that Stroke Association is the only capable provider to deliver the service, the ICB intends to award a further contract for up to 24 months from 1st September 2023 (estimated value for 24 months: £75,000.00, NHS Standard Contact, shorter-form). Capable providers may come forward by 17:00 on 31st May 2023 to engage with the ICB via nhsnwl.contracting@nhs.net. In your response to this opportunity, in up to 500 words, kindly demonstrate your capability to provide this service in the borough of Harrow. The ICB is committed to assess the needs of the service users & consider how (if relevant) it needs to secure the needs of the people who use the services, & improve the quality & efficiency in the provision of the services including through the services being provided in an integrated way.
