Description
The Bluecoat School is situated in the Urban settlement of Oldham. This area is located to the Northeast of Central Manchester. The site is surrounded to the North, East and West by largely residential properties. Immediately to the South there are midrise detached apartment blocks with industrial warehouse style estates beyond to the South. The main campus is entered from the North of Egerton Street close to the crossroad intersection with Horsedge Street. There is a severe drop from the campus's southern boundary down to Egerton St will a period stone-built wall retaining soils to the North. The site comprises of circa ten blocks predominately two-storey. To the south of the site sat a two-story temporary accommodation block which is to become a 45-parking bay car park. The current main pedestrian entrance is either side of the vehicular entry point off of Egerton St. The construction area is to the south of the on-campus road and is the grass area of the existing site.
Total Quantity or Scope
The proposal is to install a new 45 space car park. The works will include;- 1. Excavation and grading of a sloping site. 2. Construction of retaining wall structure. 3. Installation of Attenuation tanks, hydro brake, and petrol interceptor 4. Generate new pathways and stepped approaches. 5. Install appropriate external lighting for safeguarding. 7. Lay grass and plant trees and other landscaping elements. The Proposed procurement route is a 2 stage, Design & Build. Proposed form of contract is a Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) and JCT Design and Build construction contract with DfE amendments. Appointment of contractor will be on the basis of the criteria to be published in the tender documents, and the contract will be awarded on the basis of the following split: Qualitative assessment 30% / Quantitative assessment 70%.
