Description

Prison Industries require various fabrics, leather, upholstery foam and haberdashery for use in their Textiles and Upholstery workshops in establishments across England and Wales. These workshops manufacture a range of goods for the prison estate and other government departments. Suppliers are invited to express their interest in this opportunity and are encouraged to sign up for individual supplier sessions via MS Teams on 6, 13, and 14th November 2023. These will last for approximately 45 minutes and are available on a first come first served basis.

Lot Division

1 Supply of Woven Fabrics

Prison Industries require a range of woven fabrics to manufacture various items including clothing, bedding, laundry bags and curtains. The estimated annual requirement is around 1,500,000 metres.

2 Supply of Knitted Fabric to Prison Industries

Prison Industries require a range of knitted fabrics to manufacture various clothing items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts and jogging bottoms. The estimated annual requirement is around 500,000 metres.

3 Supply of Hessian, Twine and Polypropylene to Prison Industries

Prison Industries require materials to manufacture sandbags. The estimated annual requirement is around 600,000 metres of hessian, 900 metres of twine and 60,000 metres of polypropylene.

4 Supply of Leather to Prison Industries

Prison Industries require leather in various thicknesses to manufacture leather goods such as belts and pouches. The estimated annual requirement is around 3,000m².

5 Supply of Upholstery Foam to Prison Industries

Prison Industries require upholstery foam in a range of thicknesses to manufacture furniture. The estimated annual requirement is around £100,000.

6 Supply of Haberdashery Goods to Prison Industries

Prison Industries require a range of haberdashery goods including threads, labels, elastic and fasteners. Estimated annual spend is around £500,000.

7 Supply of Upholstery Fabric to Prison Industries

Prison Industries require upholstery fabric to manufacture furniture in their upholstery workshops. The estimated annual requirement is around £60,000.
