Cheshire East Council intends to enter into a procurement process to procure a contract with a single supplier for the provision of woodland planting and maintenance across 3 council owned sites within the borough of Cheshire East. The scope of the service is anticipated to include ground preparation, tree supply, tree planting, establishment, beating up and maintenance. This prior information notice is published to advertise an invitation to visit each of the 2024/2025 Woodland Creation scheme sites, site visits will be held between 5th - 7th June 2024.

Total Quantity or Scope

Cheshire East Council is committed to becoming a carbon neutral council by 2027. Planting woodland is one of many projects underway to tackle and reduce their carbon emissions across the areas that the council has direct control over. The council recognises that it can’t eliminate it's carbon emissions completely by 2027, however the plan to plant 100 hectares of trees, by that time, will help to offset those carbon emissions. The Council intends to procure a contract with a single supplier for the provision of 2024/2025 woodland planting at the following 3 sites: - Buttertons Lane Farm - Haslington, Mill Lane - Goostry and Coole Pilate - Nantwich. Organisations who wish to participate in site visits must register their interest and send a message to confirm attendance via the project messaging area of The Chest e-tendering portal. The time limit for confirming attendance at site visits is 5:00 pm on 30th May 2024. Further details are contained in this prior information notice at section II.2.4 which outlines the location and relative dates for each site visit. Participation in this market engagement exercise is not a requirement for participation in any future procurement process undertaken by Cheshire East Council, nor is it intended that site visits will have the effect of distorting future competition or violating the principles of non-discrimination and transparency. The Authority intends to proceed to procurement for its 2024/2025 woodland planting scheme services in June 2024, however makes no guarantees, commitments or representations that it will commence a procurement process. This Prior Information Notice (PIN) is an indication of potential future procurement activity and is subject to change. The PIN is not part of any pre-qualification or selection process and is not a commitment by the Authority to enter into a procurement process.
