Description

his training will complement an existing brief awareness raising film for non-health professionals on PNMH Kent County Council are looking for a provider to deliver a virtual Level 1 Perinatal Mental Health training. This training is expected to be provided to non-health professional family hub workers. We are aiming to ensure that training provided across the system is consistent and is developed by specialist services, therefore training material will be provided for use to adapt as appropriate. Aims and Objectives of the PNMH Level 1 Training: Improve Awareness of Perinatal Mental Health Raise awareness of the potential impact of parental mental health issues/difficulties on children Improve understanding of the referral pathways to Perinatal mental health services and the benefits of joint working Gain an overview of Perinatal Mental health. Gain an understanding of the importance of keeping the child in mind Gain insight into the impact on the children within the family and on their emotional development Gain full guidance on referral pathways and criteria for Perinatal Mental Health Community Service (in Kent) Content to include: Importance of Perinatal Mental Health: including prevalence, costs of undiagnosed/untreated PMNH problems, maternal suicide, NHS Long Term Plan, Recognition of Mental Illness: including symptoms of anxiety and depression, mood disorders including bipolar, schizophrenia. What is normal (expected changes, postnatal blues/pinks). Detail on different types of anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Postnatal Depression, Risk Factors. Treatment for PND, Post partum psychosis, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Red Flags (where will require urgent psychiatric assessment), Trauma. Introducing Childhood Development: developmental milestones- Birth, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12mths, up to 2 years, Impact of Perinatal Illness on Parent and Attachment: Developmental Theories, Bowlby' attachment theory, Stages of Attachment, Normal Attachment, Types of attachment (insecure avoidant, insecure resistant, insecure disorganised), effects of emotional abuse on child's development, key principles of good attachment, Mental Health Services and Referral Pathways- Primary Care Eligibility, Secondary Care Eligibility, Specialist Mental Health Services, Perinatal Mental Health Community Service, how to make a referral
