Description
The university regulator (the Office for Students - OfS) has recently announced a new condition of registration for all universities in England, which focuses on harassment and sexual misconduct. The new condition of registration follows work that was started in 2016 and follows a statement of expectation that many universities, including LJMU, have been working to since 2020. The new condition of registration expects that all universities will have embedded good practice in place for the 1st August 2025. One of the key aspects of this condition is the delivery and availability of training and awareness for staff and students on harassment and sexual misconduct, and LJMU will be required to roll this training out to all 2,700 staff and 27,000 students in the first instance. We expect to deliver the training in the first period (to the end of July 2025) to all relevant individuals and then from September 2025 to roll out to new students and staff as they start at the university with a 3-year refresher/renewal period for staff. The tender is split into two parts and organisations are able to tender for either staff or student training provision or both. Please indicate on your submitted documentation whether it applies to a) staff; b) students; c) both staff and students. The training is required to cover the following areas: Lot One - Staff • Background to this condition of registration • Detail on what is required of the university to comply with the condition. • Legal background if applicable • Bystander training • First disclosure guidance • Understand Report and Support for themselves and students. • Understand the services and support available within the institution. • Signpost staff to support services. Lot Two - Students • Background to the condition of registration • Legal background if applicable • Relevant elements of Consent training • Relevant elements of Bystander training • How to report and seek support, both from the university and/or from external specialist agencies Full details in tender pack
