Description
Clinical Coders within the Clinical Diagnostics & Therapies (CD&T) area of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board undertake a complex role of abstracting and analysing complex clinical information from a patient’s health record, including electronic discharge summaries, nursing notes and diagnostic tests including imaging, to assign classification codes. Legal Justification
The Health Board has engaged multiple agencies to deliver this work following unsuccessful recruitment campaigns. The incumbent agency provides the Health Board with clinical coders who have the required skillset and have proven to provide a consistent work quality assurance level. The coders have been trained and are able to continue to deliver this work within this financial year. No other agency has been able to provide the high numbers of clinical coders, experience and consistent delivery in work quality.
