Description

Bangor University has received a donation from the Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation to create a state-of-the-art business school, which will be housed in the soon-to-be converted site of the former Friars Junior School on Ffriddoedd Road in Bangor. The refurbishment and development of this historic building and site will offer a really exciting opportunity to create a sector-leading business school, whilst conserving and renewing a significant, historic building in Bangor. The project aims to focus on refurbishing the historic asset, whilst extending to include a purpose-built vibrant Business School, to enhance the visitor, student and staff experience, and in turn entice future students and staff to the University.

Renewal Options

Should additional funding become available, the University may wish to award additional work to the successful contractor.

Award Criteria

Proposed Team, Key Roles & Supply Chain A description and details of the proposed pre-construction and construction phase team.
Programme & Construction Methodology Identification of risk, timescales, achievement of delivery within timescales set out in the strategic programme and production of gantt chart.
Cost Plan, Affordability & Value Engineering Provision of commentary on the cost plan and the ability to deliver to the identified budget. Outline of value engineering recommendations.
Pre-Construction Methodology A description and details of the pre-construction methodology for the PCSA stage.
Construction Delivery and Site Management A description of how site activities, soft landings & defects, project success, health & safety etc. will be managed.
Risk Management A description of how significant risks will be managed and controlled. Provision of a risk register.
Stakeholder Management Provision of a stakeholder management and engagement strategy
