Description

Medium Level Support (MLS) is a strand of support offered to schools via the English Hub programme. MLS is a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) offer which includes targeted support, CPD programmes and workshops. Some MLS is directed at specific local needs but there are also a small number of 'centralised' programmes which each target a more widespread need and represent a consistent offer delivered across all 34 hubs. The supplier will design and develop a quality, evidence-based centralised MLS programme on reading fluency, for delivery by the English Hubs from Autumn term 2025. The CPD will comprise 6 sessions, delivered across a minimum of two terms of the academic year focussed on increasing subject knowledge in reading fluency, and providing teachers with practical, evidence based classroom techniques and strategies they can take back and implement in their classrooms to improve pupil's reading fluency.   This CPD to be targeted towards teachers in later KS2 after the majority of children have successfully completed their Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP) programme and can accurately decode. The supplier will also be designing and delivering 'train the trainer' sessions to prepare facilitators from English Hubs to begin delivery of the CPD from Autumn term 2025. The contract began on 28 April 2025 and will run until the end of the financial year, 31 March 2026.
