Description

Public Health, Bromley are in the process of commissioning a POCT provider to support the delivery of the NHS Health Check programme. POCT has been successfully used in Bromley since the start of the NHS Health Check programme in 2009 and is considered a crucial component, supporting, timely, effective and equitable delivery of preventative care. The NHS Health Check programme aims to improve the health and wellbeing of adults aged 40-74 years through the promotion of early awareness, assessment, and management of the major risk factors for CVD - risk factors that are associated with premature death, disability and health inequalities in England. This includes blood test for cholesterol for all NHS Health Checks and potentially other blood testing including HbA1c where risk factors are identified. In Bromley, Point of Care testing (POCT) plays a pivotal role in delivering efficient, accessible and impactful NHS Health Checks across the borough.
