Description

2 contracts are issued following a tender event relating to two separate tunnelling projects. Project 1 - Ridge Road Project 2 - Austhorpe Lane

Total Quantity or Scope

Project 1 - Ridge Road - Relates to the works associated with diverting an approximate 170m length of the Barwick - Knottingley 600NB high pressure (HP) gas pipeline on land to the immediate west of the A656 Ridge Road, approximately 1.6 miles east of Garforth, West Yorkshire. The pipeline operates at an MOP of 38.0bar and is owned & operated by Northern Gas Networks (NGN). Currently the existing pipeline is routed through agricultural land to the north and south of the trans-Pennine railway line and crosses the railway cutting by means of an overhead crossing, supported on a single concrete pillar and full encirclement clamp support to the immediate north or the railway line. It is proposed to divert the pipeline beneath the railway line by means of a micro-tunnelled under track crossing (UTX) in accordance with NGN/SP/G/27, involving the establishment of thrust pit and reception shaft either side of the railway and the installation of a reinforced precast concrete tunnel through which the diverted section of pipeline is to be inserted. This Under Track Crossing will then be utilised later to install a new 600mm Steel H.P pipeline as part of the diversion works. Project 2 - Austhorpe Lane is a location in Leeds where Network rail plan to demolish a bridge and install new Overhead Electric Lines as part of an upgrade to the rail network. At present 1 x No of 450mm Steel - NGN High Pressure Gas Pipeline is installed as an overcrossing across the Network rail tracks. The current location clashes with the proposed new Network rail Infrastructure and the High-Pressure Gas Pipeline needs to be diverted. This project therefore relates to a design and build package required for installing an Under Track Crossing (UTX) in accordance with NGN/SP/G/27, involving the establishment of thrust pit and reception shaft and the installation of a reinforced precast concrete tunnel through which the diverted section of pipeline is to be inserted. This Under Track Crossing will then be utilised later to install a new 450mm Steel H.P pipeline as part of the diversion works.
