Legal Justification

Three devices were identified as having an accuracy level appropriate for the testing required. The alternatives to the chosen supplier required additional hands-on clinician time due to the need for multiple testing kits to be used per patient. One alternative also required multiple patient swabs to be taken. Cepheid UK LTD's offering was decided to be most suitable to reduce hands-on time allowing RSV, Covid/SARS and FLU A&B to be tested with one sample loaded. This testing also aligns with the current process used within our partner laboratory, who have been using Cepheid equipment for our previous years testing and will be providing ongoing servicing for internal and external quality assurance.
