Description

The Client wishes to procure a 2 year with an optional extension period of an additional one plus one year to be determined by the client (a maximum contract period of 4 years including the optional extension period), for the Badger Found Dead and any other Wildlife Species Contract. The value of the Contract is expected within the range of £750,000-£880,000 excluding VAT for the entire 4 year period. The successful Bidder must provide a fully managed service delivery to undertake all activities relating to this Contract- Collect, arrange transportation and undertake a post mortem of badgers found dead and other wildlife species as required. The Bidder must also promote this service to the public and the farming industry throughout the contract duration. The aim and objective of this service is to provide information on the prevalence of Mycobacterium bovis (M.bovis) infection in badgers by means of a post mortem examination and submission of samples for culture, molecular typing and histological examination. This data and analysis will provide vital information on the prevalence of (M bovis) infection in badgers and on genotypes present. The results of the contract will be used to investigate the relationship between (M.bovis) infection in badgers and cattle and will assist in the formulation of policy at both local and national levels. It will also add to epidemiological reporting and provide evidence to case vets.

Renewal Options

An optional extension period of an additional one plus one year to be determined by the client (a maximum contract period of 4 years including the optional extension period 1+1 max 2 year extension).

Award Criteria

Service Delivery Ability to deliver and clearly outline the approach in which you would fully manage and undertake all activities in relation to the provision and service delivery of this Contract as stipulated within the specification at section 5 and 7.
Service Delivery Evidence your understanding of biosecurity whilst working with TB, please provide clear and detailed measures to show that biosecurity compliance will be maintained throughout the delivery of this Contract with regards to the collection of dead badgers and with postmortems.
Service Delivery Demonstrate your knowledge of UK GDPR and data security, explain the measures you have in place to ensure strict levels of data management and confidentiality is always maintained, including the use of IT. The Bidder must ensure that on initiating the postmortem examination the Bidder’s bespoke dead badger form and tag is checked to ensure they match
Contract Management Describe the quality assurance control measures you have in place and how these would apply to this Contract.
