Description

This assistive listening equipment is for deaf children who are newly medically diagnosed and those requiring upgrades to replace older FM radio aids. The FM radio aid system works in conjunction with hearing aids and helps to alleviate problems caused by distance, background noise and reduce reverberation. Deafness is a low incidence disability and Haringey Sensory Support Service would like to purchase and supply equipment that can be used and reused across deaf children and young people in the local authority. This technology continues to develop and requires specialist knowledge and training to fit, monitor and troubleshoot as needed. Radio Aids are to be used in the homes and educational settings to enable deaf children and young people to: - Help to hear the speaker. - Help in situations well listening is less favourable such as at a great distance and/or against background noise. - Reduce sounds echoing/ reverberating around the room. The Equalities Act (2010) provides a duty to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not treated less favourably than their non-disabled peers
