Description

Public Health England (PHE) is planning to award a contract for the provision of a CLARIOstar PLUS, to BMG LABTECH. PHE's Technology Development Group (TDG) Porton has been using earlier versions of this technology for over 4 years, as part of their work to elucidate resistance mechanisms of Health Care Acquired Infection (HCAI) organisms. PHE believes that the CLARIOstar PLUS is currently the only system on the market capable of meeting the specific requirement of fluorescence and luminescence detection performed by a patented linear variable filter monochromator, including having a linear variable dichroic mirror. The ability to select wavelengths and bandwidths for excitation and emission from 8nm to 100nm, changeable in 1nm increments, is also required. As continuity of data acquisition also needs to be ensured, and direct comparisons between historical and new data need to be made, we require any new instruments to be compatible with current instruments and associated software.
