Description

The NCETM manages the Maths Hub network to deliver its strategic priorities, including the delivery of the Teaching for Mastery (TfM) programme and build sector expertise in mathematics. The NCETM provides the central source of expertise, information and evidence on effective teaching, pupil knowledge acquisition and teacher professional development, supporting successful progression in mathematics from reception to key stages 5 implemented through the Hubs network. The NCETMs role is to deliver the national programme of mathematics support and continuing professional development (CPD) on behalf of DfE, in England.

Total Quantity or Scope

The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), delivers and supports national programmes to improve mathematics teaching and attainment in England. Our aim is that every child, no matter what challenges they face, should have access to an excellent education that prepares them for life in the modern world. DfE Priorities The Department has outlined the following priority outcomes for delivery: • Skills - level up productivity and employment • Schools - level up education standards • Families - support families and provide the best start in life for all The Maths Hub Programme centres on levelling up education standards by driving up quality of teaching for all and driving economic growth through increasing the number of people with higher-level STEM skills in the employment pipeline. By increasing the number of people in the workforce with STEM skills, this investment will also support the Government’s objective of continuing to be a global science superpower. The new contract which begins on 1st July 2022 and will run for two years and two months until 31 August 2024 and will continue to deliver the aims of the NCETM. This includes the Government’s ambitions for mastery and the Maths Hub network. DfE, at its sole discretion, has an option to extend for a further 12 months, in multiples of its choice. Any such extension will be subject to the relevant DfE approvals and notifications.
